A dog owner in Wichita, Kansas, thought he had lost his beloved Taz forever when the 6-year-old mutt disappeared in a river during a sudden storm. Rescue firefighters thought likewise until one of the men spotted a glimpse of a wet snout peeking through a concrete wall. The dog hid on a ledge under a concrete embankment but got trapped in a small air pocket as the rivers began to rise. Rescuers used power saws to cut a hole in the concrete to pull out the trapped dog. Taz is home safely today — and all is right with the world.
